I've been advised this is a firmware* problem. It gets as far as loading /dev, then drops to a shell. I have been unable to boot from a live CD,Į.g.
It never presents a menu thatĪllows a choice between the 2 HDs as is the expected outcome with a chainloaded PC. Succeed dropping to a shell and I have to hit the Reset button. Sometimes it boots to the Maxtor/debian boot menu but it doesn't always Sometimes it automaticallyīoots directly into Windows with no option(s) presented. The problem is that the UEFI Boot Manager doesn't seem to know what to do. In the Master Dock I have a Maxtor 160 GB HD with a couple of debian distros, I'm trying to resolve a pernicious boot problem with a new ASUS M32AD PC with a Toshiba 1.0 TB HD with Windows 8.1 OEM'dĬurrently slotted in the Slave Dock on the MoBo.
